Post High School opportunity in Advanced Manufacturing

The Advanced Manufacturing Partnership (AMP) program has extended the deadline for applications to Sunday, March 15, 2015.
We are looking for students who like to create things, solve problems, tinker, and fix things.   The program isn’t limited to students with previous experience in manufacturing.  It’s the aptitude and the attitude that matters!!!

This valuable program offers post-high school students the opportunity to begin a career in Advanced Manufacturing by working for an AMP sponsoring company part-time while earning their Associate Degree in Tooling & Manufacturing or Industrial Maintenance at no cost for tuition!  There are opportunities for achieving a Bachelor Degree beyond the AMP program, as credits transfer toward a degree at Ferris State University.  Many manufacturers have tuition reimbursement programs and will pay for this additional education as well.

Cohort IV begins in the Fall of 2015.  There are 17 available positions across ten sponsor companies.  Students attend school on Thursday and Friday, and work the remainder of the week at their company.  GRCC recommends a maximum of 20 hours per week; however, some employers offer more hours to employees so they can receive company benefits.

Students earn an Associate Degree DEBT FREE and get paid to work and learn!!!

An example of course curriculum includes:
Welding, Machine Trades Blueprint Reading, Industrial Graphics with CAD, Basic Electricity and Electronics, Machine Operations, Electrical Troubleshooting, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Mechanical Power Transmission, Basic CNC Programming, and Metallurgy (working with various types of metals).

AMP would be an excellent next-step for students who want to get started in a career and work towards a degree at the same time.   For your information, I have attached an overview of the program.

To apply, or for more information about AMP, you may visit http://www.grcc.edu/amp.  The new deadline for applications is Sunday, March 15, 2015.

Thank you for helping us spread the word about this valuable opportunity for students!!
